CheckCon Report: Open Source Investigations Workshop
CheckCon’s second day held a workshop on open source investigation.
It covered mechanisms that facilitates investigators’ job for verifying sources and information.
First, Tom Trewinnard introduced Check, a platform that eases verification process for investigators. He also carried on to clarify the verification tasks of the authentication process. Check also started a project, CrossCheck, to help French media outlets in their combat against misinformation tides in the upcoming elections.
Another establishment in this workshop was introduced by Amin Jobran.
Jobran started off discussing why civil society need tools to track social media. He carried on to introduce Mecodify, a free tool that help visualize online data and make sense of it. Mecodify also aids research, and can advise advocacy strategy.
