Two student internships
Funded: Yemeni Archive
Yemeni Archive is an initiative created by a collective of human rights activists, technologists, and journalists working to securely preserve and verify open source documentation relating to human rights violations and other crimes committed by all sides during the conflict in Yemen. Yemeni Archive aims to create an evidence-based tool for reporting, advocacy and accountability purposes.

NAWA-IF continued to support internship programs in 2020, whereby our young trainees are offered the opportunity to gain both practical experience and soft skills. Through the Yemeni Archive internship programme, students get hands-on experience in open source investigation methods, use of media as evidence, campaigning and advocacy, photography journalism and digital security. In 2020, the Yemeni Archive hosted two interns from Yemen – journalism students from Sanaa University. They worked on two reports, the first of which was the “Attack on Access” report/ database, published in October 2020. The second report, on Misinformation in Yemen, has been extended and will further involve NAWA newsroom students working on this report in cooperation with the Yemeni Centre for Media and Economic Studies.
