Fact-checking for the Web
The 2011 Arab uprisings, the #Occupy movement in the US, and the waves of protests from Brazil to China are all factors that have contributed to a growing consensus that advancements in technology have enhanced civic engagement and participation around the world. But as these countries enter critical phases of constitutional transitions, citizens need evidence-based media to make informed choices and hold their governments to account. This is all necessary in a digital environment where rumor, misinformation, polarization and mistrust hamper the development of democracy and social change. Our first set of online resources specifically address these questions through both video and written core content.
